This excursion takes place in the picturesque wilderness outside Rovaniemi, the capital city of Lapland in northern Finland. On this Midnight Sun canoe trip in Finnish Lapland, you’ll be treated to the delightful sight of the sky changing from sunset to sunrise.
For this adventure, you can meet the certified instructor directly at the starting point in Rovaniemi, or choose to be picked up from your accommodation in the city (please specify when booking). The guide will greet you and transfer you to the beautiful river outside of the city. Upon arrival, you’ll receive your equipment (canoe, paddle, life jacket, and dry bag for your belongings), as well as a safety briefing and instructions for paddling. This tour is beginner-friendly, and the route will be adapted to suit the group’s abilities. Each canoe raft can hold up to two adults and one child.
Then, the canoeing in Finnish Lapland begins! This region is full of peaceful rivers that are easy to navigate. You’ll paddle along the gentle waters, admiring the unique Arctic nature you pass, including lush greenery and secluded islets. In the summer months, the water is surprisingly warm, as it is heated all day by the never-ending sunlight. If you wish, you can jump into the river and bask in the tranquil waters!
