The fun-filled glacier hiking tour begins at the meeting point in Mýrdalshreppur, where you and your group (a maximum of 12 participants) will be greeted by your knowledgeable and seasoned guide. After a safety and itinerary briefing, you’ll receive your equipment, which includes a helmet, crampons, a harness, and an ice axe. Next, you’ll set out on the 30-minute scenic hike to the Sólheimajökull Glacier. Upon your arrival, the guide will provide an introduction to glacier hiking, emphasising safety, as well as how and when to use your ice axe.
As you traverse the awe-inspiring Sólheimajökull Glacier, you will encounter numerous crevasses, deep cracks in the surface of the glacier and vertical shafts in the ice.
